The Long, Fake Life of J.S. Dirr: A Decade-Long Internet Cancer Hoax Unravels

This is the fascinating story of a young girl, who starting at around 11 years old developed a fictional family across many social networking sites, creating for example, over 70 fictional, inter-related Facebook profiles.  She maintained several long term relationships with different people for over a decade, including multiple “online affairs” with middle age, neglected housewives, but primarily was active in cancer family support.

I wonder how many other people are out there doing this on even a much longer scale?  With multiple decade long false personas possible from the early online days.
